Jazz Dance Direct was built promote the visibility of jazz dance in its many, varied forms.
Jazz Dance Direct is devoted exclusively to the promotion and visibility of jazz dance. We greatly value the influence, contributions, and overlapping relationships with tap dance and hip-hop, but do not feature those genres on this website.
Jazz Is… Dance Project, is dedicated to the dissemination of jazz dance education, choreography, performance, and scholarship.
Founded by Melanie George in 2012, Jazz Is… Dance Project widens the palette and visibility of jazz dance beyond the most immediate and contemporary forms and venues.
Inspired by the democratic nature of jazz music, a uniquely Black American art form, Jazz Is… Dance Project values improvisation, stylization, and humanity in jazz dance, honoring the roots and fruits of jazz in the classroom, in the studio, and on stage.
